Product Infomation
Product Description: Gill-associated Virus (GAV) is a positive-sense RNA virus that belongs to the genus Okavirus and the family Roniviridae. It infects shrimp and causes gill-associated disease, which is characterized by high mortality, reduced feeding, lethargy, and reddening of appendages and tail. GAV was first detected in Australia in 1994 and has since been reported in several countries in Southeast Asia. GAV is one of the six genotypes of okaviruses that infect shrimp, and it shares some features with other members of the order Nidovirales. The kit is based on a PCR reaction to detect GAV in the shrimp.
